1st October 2009 - Informal Correction details published
On 1 October 2009, section 1075 of the Companies Act 2006 comes into force. This is a new provision which gives the registrar the power to correct a document which appears to be incomplete or internally inconsistent before registering it. From 1st October, Informal correction will only be implemented in respect of the registration of mortgages and charges. View full guidance on informal correction.

1st October 2009 – Companies Act 2006 is now fully implemented
The Companies Act 2006 was fully implemented on 1st October 2009.  If you are filing documents at Companies House, please view the Transitional Provisions for the most commonly filed form types. 

23rd September 2009 – Updated Companies House Service Availability Notice and changes to online services
Companies House has updated the service availability notice for the period between 30th September and 5th October.  We have also published details of the main changes affecting our online services as part of the Companies Act 2006 implementation.

22nd September 2009 – Transitional Provisions for Companies Act 2006
The Companies Act 2006 comes fully into force on 1st October 2009. Companies House has published a table outlining the transitional provisions of the Companies Act 2006 for the most commonly filed types of forms and documents.

17th September 2009 – Changes to Limited Partnership Fees
There has been changes to the fees in respect of Limited Partnerships (LPs). More details on fee changes.

7th August 2009 - Letter to companies
As part of Companies Act 2006 customer communications, Companies House is writing to companies to advise about the final implementation on 1st October 2009. A letter and brief guide will be sent to every registered office address during August and September.

1st July 2009 - Draft Forms and Guidance available
Draft forms and guidance are now available from this website. These are in draft format and are subject to change, but will give you an idea of the final versions ready for 1st October 2009. Copies of Model Articles and Registrars Rules are also now available, (please note that the Schedules have yet to be populated) as well as the draft price list for October.

April 2009 – New Companies Act 2006 Seminars
Companies House has designed a new seminar that will cover the timetable of the Companies Act 2006 implementations, and focus mainly on the changes within the final implementation on 1st October 2009. View more details on the seminars and book your place now.

April 2009 – New information on Northern Ireland Integration
When the Companies Act 2006 is fully commenced in October 2009, the Northern Ireland Company Registry will integrate with Companies House. More details on Northern Ireland Registry integration

March 2009 – New FAQs on Registrars Powers
From 1st October 2009, part 35 of the Companies Act 2006 gives the registrar of companies a range of powers,  these include powers to decide on the form and manner in which companies must deliver documents, what is needed for a document to be properly delivered, provision of electronic delivery for certain documents, and amendments to the register. February 2009 – Changes to Late Filing Penalties
To encourage company directors to file their annual accounts on time, the 1st February 2009 saw the introduction of a new late filing penalty regime. More details on Late Filing Penalty changes

October 2008
The 1st October 2008 saw a further stage of the implementation of the Companies Act 2006.

Changes to Annual Returns with a made up date on or after 1st October 2008
The form has changed so only the appropriate shareholder details need to be completed depending on whether or not the company is a traded public company.  This means that no company is required to include the addresses of all its shareholders. More information on Annual Return changes
