Companies House and the Euro
Following the launch of the Euro, Companies House will accept accounts in the new currency for accounting periods ending on or after 1 January 1999.
Companies whose directors and auditors consider that it would be appropriate for annual accounts to be drawn up in euro in order to give a true and fair view of the company’s affairs, may do so without seeking consent from Companies House or any other external body.
For information on re-denominating nominal share capital expressed in former national currencies, please see the guidance provided in section 7 of the December 2001 Bank of England document.

More detail on the practical issues that companies might need to consider are contained in the Government’s Euro Preparation Unit (EPU) fact sheets. These fact sheets are available by telephoning a dedicated line: 08456 01 01 99 (local call rates apply).
The fact sheets are also available on the EPU website 'What's New' page together with business case studies, Ministerial speeches and briefing and other information on preparations.
